Honey bees may establish a nest inside the wall of the house or other building causing a problem, a health hazard and a serious danger to the structure.

Honey bee colonies in wall or attic voids are a much more serious problem than yellowjacket wasps. Yellowjacket colonies are annual and the wasps will disappear in the winter with or without treatment. Honey bee nests may last for many years without treatment and will contain honey stored inside the walls. The honey can ruin walls and ceilings if it is not removed.

Combs inside buildings should be removed to avoid problems with honey-stained walls and pest problems, such as carpet beetles, and attracting bee swarms in the future. Never use honey or wax from colonies that have been treated with an insecticide. Controlling honey bee nests can be challenging. Call a pest control specialist if you spot bees around or coming out of your home.

We are specialists when it comes to dealing with honey bees, yellowjackets, and their nests. Our Bee Control will leave no trace of bees in the present or futur

  • What is the difference between the European and the Africanized honey bee?
The main difference is their aggression. When Africanized bees feel their hive is in danger they will attack in greater numbers. They produce far less honey and tend to swarm more often.

European bees for the most part are not a threat unless aggravated. Aggravation will occur if they feel their hive is in danger. Swatting at flying bees is not recommended since all you will accomplish is to aggravate them. Unlike the European honey bee, the Africanized bee does not need an excuse to attack. They protect their hive and queen at a larger radius. Again unlike the European honey bee, the Africanized bee may pursue intruders for up to a mile and remain aggravated for up to 24 hours

The most common stinging bee in California is the honey bee, introduced into this country from Europe in the 17th century. Its stinger, which resembles a hypodermic needle with barbs, is used to inject a mixture of alkali venom and acid into the skin. The alkali venom contains several kinds of proteins and enzymes which are believed to cause allergic reactions of varying degrees in humans. Sting reactions, which may increase with succeeding stings, include:

More severe reactions may include cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, shock or loss of consciousness. Symptoms usually appear within a few minutes after a sting, but could be delayed up to 24 hours. Stings near the eyes, nose and throat are the most dangerous. For severe reactions, medical assistance should be sought immediately.

When stung by a bee, the stinger should be removed as quickly as possible, but removing it improperly will make the sting worse, The proper way is to scrape the stinger out with a clean fingernail or knife. Pulling or squeezing the stinger will only pump more venom into the wound, as the bee parts containing the venom are left attached to the stinger after the bee tears itself free.

The sting area should be cleaned with soap and water, or with an antiseptic. For people known to have severe reactions who are stung on the arms or legs, a tourniquet may be applied between the wound and the heart to prevent the rapid spread of venom. The tourniquet should be released every three to five minutes until medical help is available.

In the past few years, a small number of Africanized "killer bees" have been found in the southern San Joaquin Valley, having migrated from Brazil. Because of cross-breeding in South America, they are now known as Brazilian honey bees.

Killer bees are dangerous despite the new name, They will attack anything moving within 100 yards of their nest without provocation, and will chase a running target much farther than less excitable varieties of bees.  In appearance, killer bees resemble any other honey bee. It's their attitude that sets them apart. They are now a problem in California.

Bees are affected by the type of clothing people wear. for some reason, rough and dark clothing of wool or leather irritates them, which is why professional bee keepers wear light colored, smooth textured clothes when tending their hives. Some perfumes also aggravate bees, which will attack a moving target faster than they will an immobile one. Running or swatting at them only increases the chances of a sting.  So when a bee draws near, try to relax. It will probably lose interest in you once it finds out you are not a gladiola -- or an enemy.

    • A choking sensation or difficulty in breathing.
    • A skin rash similar to hives (human hives, not bee hives).
    • A dry cough, sneezing or asthma.
    • Lips turning blue.
    • A rapid pulse and a drop in blood pressure.
  • How much does the service cost?
That depends on the size of the hive, location and the extent of the repair involved. Our company is able to provide the best price because we reuse all healthy bees. Call around and then

Khaled is like a busy bee; sorry could not resist the pun.  I was able to book him for a Wednesday appointment on Saturday to remove a wasp nest from the back stairs of my house.  He came, he vacuumed, he sprayed.  Job was done quickly and efficiently.  He even had time to share about the origin of his name.  He charged me what he quoted, came during the time he promised, and even left me a jar of honey.  Thanks!

Khaled is the man! I had some ULTRA aggressive yellow jackets in my back yard. He just vacuumed those fools up, no sweat. No chemicals and the mean bees were completely gone when he left. Khaled gifted me a jar of honey from his hives and invited me to visit his store in Oakland that looks like a bee hive when you walk in. That's what's up. Khaled is all cool.

Kensington, CA

Have to echo the other reviews.

I recently discovered 7 small wasps nests scattered around the house.  I called Khaled and he gave me a reasonable quote over the phone. He had me text him the address which made communication easy.

The next morning he was at the house removing the nests.  He was dependable, efficient, and professional.  He also looked all around the house for additional nests and answered all of our questions.

Best of all, no animals were harmed during the removal of the nests. :-)

Great job Khaled!

Khaled is wonderful! We found Khaled's Bee Removal Service by calling his Bee Healthy Honey Shop at 2950 Telegraph Ave in Oakland.

We discovered a swarm of honey bees outside our yard earlier this afternoon. After so many years of walking by Khaled's honey shop and wanting to purchase local honey (and not doing so), the first shop that came to mind to take care of the bees was Khaled's Bee Healthy Honey Shop. Not knowing if bee removal was part of the shop's expertise, we quickly learned from Khaled that he performed bee removal and relocation services. Khaled was at our property within 45 minutes of our call and greeted us with a jar of delicious honey and bees wax skin cream, and gently and quickly removed the swarm - what great customer service.

He explained to us his process and educated us about the queen bee and swarm needing to find a new home. He also answered all our curious questions about what was happening.

We will definitely stop by Bee Healthy Honey Shop for more honey.

Thank you so much Khaled.

You should have no doubt that THIS is the person you want to take care of this type of problem.  Third time I have had to call on Khalid for his great service.  He removed a large nest of yellow jackets promptly.  Seems yellow jackets like to make nests around my home.

I called him on Friday and on Saturday he was here and out were the yellow jackets.

And of course he gave me a jar of his liquid gold honey.

El Sobrante, CA

I cannot say enough great things about Khaled and his service. I had him come out to extract a hive that had made their home in our bedroom wall. He showed up professionally dressed and ready to go. One of the first things he did was give me a jar of his raw honey. It was delicious.

He was very polite and knowledgable about his business, patiently answering any question I threw at him (which were plenty). He let me watch the extraction and encouraged me taking pictures of it. He was very calm during the entire time, even fielding phone calls while removing the bees.

Listening to how many phone calls he received, this time of year is very busy for this one man operation. For this reason he was hard to get out to my place immediately, but he was well worth the wait.

I know it can be nerve-wracking to have bees in your home, but after having hosted them for two-plus weeks, just know that they're not going to hurt you if you keep your distance. I called a few beekeepers, and this time of year they are very busy, so just be patient.

But I highly recommend you call Khaled. It was one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had. You'll even get an awesome jar of honey out of it!

I was shocked to see a swarm of bees right along my walkway to the front door. A little closer look and OMG! A very large nest right in the tree. I quickly looked up bee removal and found Khaled's Alive Bee removal Service. Reviews on Yelp were good so I called him and left a message. Within 30 minutes he called me back and was at my home within the hour.

Khaled immediately went to work removing the bee's. He even showed my what the queen bee looked like. He treated the tree to kill the scent of the queen bee so any remaining bee's would soon leave.

If you're having a problem with bee's this is the business to call.

Khaled was amazing. We had bees in our fireplace chimney, which is on a rather high peak of our house. It's not someplace that's easy to get to if you're afraid of heights. Khaled worked without a net, literally. Not even a beekeeper's net. He just stuck his head in the midst of a lot of bees around the chimney and said, "You can smell the honey." He came back with a lure hive and put it on the chimney for a couple of weeks and all the bees moved out of the chimney into Khaled's hive. After a couple of weeks, he came back and took the hive away to relocate it. He also brought a jar of his wonderful honey. The guy's got nerves of steel, and a really pleasant demeanor. Great to work with. Highly recommended.

great job! I've had people spray the yellowjacket nests in the past, but Khaled actually removed the nest, too.   too bad he can't handle the skunks that nest under our walkway, too...

I discovered the nest of yellow jackets this morning when a group of them attacked my leg, inflicting several stings.  Wanting a service with a good track record, I went to Yelp and found Khaled.  He finished one job across town and then came directly to my home, arriving exactly when he had predicted.

It took him only half an hour to clear the nest and remove the hive, which he showed me.  He is kind, knowledgeable and informative.  A soft-spoken, unassuming man, he did tell me that beekeeping has been passed down in his family.  When he can, he captures problem honey bees and rehabilitates them, well, that is puts them to good use in making honey.  You may note that another reviewer talked about "famous" honey.

I recommend Khaled highly.

We had a next of wasps underneath our deck.  We thought they were yellow jackets, but they didn't go for the baited traps we hung up.  After 3 of our family members suffered from stings, it was time to call a removal service.  Thanks to Yelp! and Khaled, our wasp nest was removed.
I asked what type of guarantee he offered, and he said if there were still wasps around after a week, he'd come back and and bring me a jar of his famous honey (which he didn't have with him).  I had a dozen or so resilient wasps, so he came back and left me a jar of honey on the porch!  Thanks, Khaled!

He did an great job removing the bees.  Thanks for the removing the bees!!!

Danville, CA

Khaled's Alive Bee Removal Service did a great job removing two bee hives from under the floor of a shed that we have.  Khaled took time to educate me about Bees and the benefits of their honey.  He even gave me a book and a jar of raw honey.  Great service, very reliable and calls ahead of time to confirm his appointments or to let you know if he is running late.  Thanks Khalid and my Gardner also said to say thanks; I got my shed back and the gardner can know adjust the water metering system which was next to the bees.

Great guy and service, removed a very large yellowjacket nest.   He is very ecologically minded.

Berkeley, CA

Khaled was awesome! First off, his quote was 1/10th of what the exterminator wanted. Second, he didn't just kill the bees - he relocated them and was able to establish multiple colonies in east bay parks. Third, he collects the honey from the hive. We got some, and he resells the rest at the farmers markets. How great is that? He was late the first day, but I forgive him. He also let me stick around, and see how it's all done. Though most yelpers probably wouldn't want to, I also got to help him and learned alot about bee keeping and removal. For the record, I was not stung once...Khaled I don't think was as fortunate.

Oakland, CA

This guy just saved my butt. In the middle of an already complicated construction issue at home, I run into a big bumblebee nest in one of the walls I needed to gut. At noon, I was yelping, at 2pm it was all over, I was back to work and the bees had been carefully and expertly removed... On a Saturday... Can't ask for more...

Oakland, CA

If I could give him 6 stars I would. 10 years ago I used Khaled's bee extraction services and he not only made an incredible impression then, but also solved by yellow jacket problem.  Well, we moved to a new home & had a new yellow jacket nest. Luckily I found Khaled again and he helped me remove the underground yellow jacket nest.  He was prompt, helpful, professional, & kind.  And he gave me a jar of his wonderful honey. This is the man to call if you have any needs in removing bee or yellow jacket nests.

Also he is soon to open his own honey shop where he'll sell his Queen of Sheba honey.  Great small business that hopefully gets enough local support.

Walnut Creek, CA

Khaled did bee removal for us. We had a hive living in our roof. He charged a very reasonable rate and even came back for free when some bees came back.

He brought me a sample of honey from the shop, YUM!

San Francisco, CA

I run a tree service company and when a clients tree fell in their yard we needed to have it removed immediately. A beehive in the tree prevented our workers from getting too close. Khaled dropped everything and met with us the next morning, kept the bees at bay and successfully removed the hive without harming the bees. Khaled was professional, knew what he was doing and was a joy to work with. He's the first person I'll call next time we encounter a hive of bees.

Piedmont, CA

I first met this family when The City of Piedmont recommended them for removing hives from my home.  After a speedy removal they presented me with a jar of specialty honey from the Indian Himalayas.  After drizzling this liquid gold on some cheese from The Cheese Shop in Oakland and spreading the concoction on fresh bread...I was hooked!  The shop is amazing, they have honey and honey products from their own hives and all over the world.  The family has been making honey for generations in Yemen and they know their stuff.  They also carry soaps, creams Royal Jelly, Bee Pollen.

If you like gourmet foods or are interested in the benefits of honey for beauty or health you must check out this store!
